Adieu…

So, I get to SG, check my bag in, and scoot off over to the East Coast to meet a colleague for a quick work meeting and some rather lovely luncheon. We chat and chat and chat, nip to the mall to grab some bits, and before I know it, 8pm has arrived and it’s time for me to check in for my flight back to London town…

A rather lovely luncheon, and another friendship sealed.

Contrary to popular belief, you can’t get everything in the world at Changi airport. Yes, it’s got great facilities and is super efficient. But the book stocks are fairly limited. After my Friday experiences, another good doctor friend recommended Bizot’s “The Gate” as my next read.

I thought I’d get it here, more fool me. I’ll just have to make do with a stack of champers, rather large g&t’s and some movie time as the BA Club Crew ship me back to Londinium…

I’ve had a great time out here and can’t believe my daily Asia-tastic updates have drawn to a close. I’ve learnt a great deal, worked with some talented people, travelled to some amazing places, seen some breathtaking sights, eaten delectable food, and met some truly wonderful characters along the way. Travels. Don’t you just love them!?

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. But fear not, October 1st sees me on a cheeky weeks holiday before leg two of the tour kicks off in Oz. I’m ready for Sydney in summer and I hope they are ready for me. So, tie those Kangaroo’s down.

And someone let the boys know I’m coming?

Iain is ready for boarding. Normal service will resume in October when the tour kicks off once more…

4.30am cab to airport. 80′s popstrel Belinda Carlsile giving us her circle in the sand.

It’s just a little too early for any of this…

adieu…

with 2 comments

So, the date I’d waited a month on, never materialised. The one night it almost came to fruition, I chose to step out with the two lovely ladies that really helped me make the most of my time here.

And boy did I make the right choice.

Lady Muck and Too Precious took me out with their men and their mates. Stunning mexican food (in a weird old army village populated by bars and eateries), too many maragritas and a weird thai microbrewery were all pre-club warm-ups.

I laughed myself hoarse, drank a lot, danced a little, and ended the night with a 4am snackette in ChinaTown.

Ladies, I am in your debt. Thank you for the laughs, lunches, shopping, vulva, period, fasting, and most of all, the passport!

;)

One too many...

One too many...

Margarita’s.

Lush. Microbrewery now. Decoratively speaking, it’s confused. Chandeliers, Thai decorations, and brewery bits. And a tranny type singing I will survive? Time for more beer then.

Am gonna miss my sing bitches lah…

Iain is in Dempsey Hill. A former army village. Game over innit.

What to do on my final night in the pore?

Well, the rather dishy Dave finally made good. After three weeks of no window, he had one tonight. And just like l’oreal, boy, was he worth the wait…

So, I faced a choice.

A date with a rather dishy hunk. Or, a night out drinking with Lady Muck and Precious, my office compadres for the last few weeks.

As you’d expect, I couldn’t drop my bitches for a bloke. That just isn’t the way we do things round my parts. So, mexican food, margaritas and tequila await, as my cabby whisks me to them on Dempsey Road.

Or as I finally learned how to converse with cabbies (dropping letters left right and centre), dennseeee roooaaa. Bi-lingual me. Singlish is but a breath away, lah?

Iain is on his way to sure fire pain tomorrow morning.

Secondments are like…

puppiesAnd I quote;

Secondments are like puppies. You don’t want to fall for them but you do. Then they go away just as you get attached to them. That sucks…”.

Flattering. But not as flattering as them seeing my passport photo, telling me how hot I looked, and that I need to hit the gym. Harsh, yes. But spot the fuck on. Thanks for that girls, I will haul my carcass down there if it kills me…

Last day in the SG team, saw me take in a sneaky day trip to Koala Loompa. Disappointing, no koalas. No oompaloompas.

Still, potentially a strong campaign agreed with a key airline partner, so a job well done. Now, it’s time to eat, drink, and lap up my last Friday in SG…

Iain is off to Cambodia on Sunday.

So, last day in SG. What do I get?

Fly in, meeting, fly out. Can’t complain, should  be a kick arse meeting. Especially if I work my magic…. Then, a date with Dave awaits me Friday night, and it’s Cambodia for a week on another 6am Sunday flight.

I can pick em!

Iain is almost in holiday mode…..

I know when I have man flu. I ache, I moan. But it gets serious when I leave half of lunch…

Brain stops working., time slows. I was very tempted to go home and mope, but only here a few more days, didn’t want to be ‘sick boy’…

Still, bed now. Early. Cambodia flights booked, a whole week there as of this weekend before Blighty. Tips from anyone who has been most welcome…

Iain is off to bed, lemsip at the ready…

P.S. Listening to breakfast radio mid afternoon is a bit weird. But whoever thought it’d be a good idea to get former baby spicer in to cover on Heart FM was seriously misguided. A face for radio she may have, a voice and presence for it she does not….

Please don’t let me need a dentist till I get home…

Would you let this lot dig about your mouth?

Would you let this lot dig about your mouth?

Big Boss Man Asia passes this every day too and from work.

Is brilliant, it’s a bit like seeing a bag of crisps in Brazil called herpes, or cock.

The stuff that makes Tarrant on TV (or the eqivalent programmes across the globe), and makes us laugh at those ‘funny foreigners’.

Singlish doesn’t really do the ‘th’ sound, so this isn’t really a big deal out here.

But for me, slightly nervous of dentists anyway; it really shows the difference a little bit of local perspective can make.

Shame HSBC often miss that…

Iain is hopeful he’ll need no dental work till he gets back to Blighty…
